Little Art Notes

March 18, 2022

Hello lovelies!

I’m excited to share a little art project I’ve been doing recently called Little Art Notes. I’ve already shared this with my Lovely Patrons, so I wanted to finally share it with the rest of you.

I’ve been creating these little 4×4 art cards for the last month or so. Each is a small piece of artwork with a positive affirmation or loving sentiment written on them—little bits of kindness I like to call them. I’ve been creating these little art notes and leaving them in public places for random people to find. I started secretly documenting it all over on Instagram and am really hoping strangers join in on the fun.

How you can get involved

It’s really easy. Simply get a few 4×4 pieces of heavy cardstock or watercolor paper and create little works of art. Be sure to include a little note of love, kindness, or wisdom to your artwork. Then on the back of the card, write out this generic message so that other people can get involved if they so wish:

Then leave it in a public place where someone could find!

Be sure to share photos of your little art notes on IG by using the hashtag and tagging @littleartnotes. It’s the best way for me to see your work and repost it to the feed.

I really like the idea of these little art notes being real actual works of art. And it doesn’t matter if it’s abstract or realistic. It could be a paper collage or a drawing of your favorite flower. However you create your art, that is what it could be.

It’s just something really sweet for someone to stumble upon, you know? Imagine having a really terrible day then coming across a little art note. How would that make you feel?

I explain the project better in the video below. I really hope you’d be interested in joining me on this project. I would love for us to do this together. How neat would it be if there were little art notes of love scattered in different places across the world?

Just another spread in my @getmessyartjournal Seas Just another spread in my @getmessyartjournal Season of Bloom art journal. A lot of these pages were already in progress, so it's interesting to see them finished. I'm sure I had other intentions for what they were going to look like a couple of years ago when I first created this journal. Now, I'm content with matching colors, adding paint, and a few scribbles. This journal is all about the process of creating for me now, which I think is still a source of growth. xx
Another spread in my @getmessyartjournal Season of Another spread in my @getmessyartjournal Season of Bloom art journal. I rather like how this one turned out! I'm quite obsessed with using this Payne's Gray NeoColor crayon to make some scattered marks on my page. You might see a lot more of this in future spreads from this book. xx
I've been enjoying following along with the @getme I've been enjoying following along with the @getmessyartjournal #getmessymay prompts. I've basically been just watching them as they are posted. But the other night, I attempted the Happy prompt and it literally has gotten back into simply playing around with my supplies. I pulled out this very old Seasons of Bloom journal that is SO CLOSE to being finished. I figure I'd channel all of this creative energy I have right now to finishing it up!

I'm not responding to any particular prompt, just using the processes and techniques shared to finally complete this journal. xx
Another handful of #littleartnotes that I’ll be Another handful of #littleartnotes that I’ll be taking with me to Tennessee. I’ll be visiting friends over there for two weeks, so I made an entire batch of cards to share with the lovely people of TN. This is just a handful of them. These might be my favorites because they’re so colorful! xx
I'm truly very honored to be a part of the @getmes I'm truly very honored to be a part of the @getmessyartjournal #getmessymay challenge. My prompt is WORDS and it's live now over on the Get Messy Instagram feed as well as on the Messy May challenge webpage.

My journals have been filled with more words this year than ever. I've been journaling out some very hard feelings these past few months and it's been nice to just scribble them all out whether as the main focus of my page or hidden in the background in some way.

The process I share over on Get Messy shows you two ways you can incorporate more words into your journal pages. I really hope you enjoy and I can't wait to see what you create! xx
