my italy travel journal in my wp color crush tn setup + kit

April 14, 2016

So, I’m heading off to Italy at the ending of May and as usual, will be documenting my trip on the go. As I finished up my Southeast Asia journal, I also prepped my Italy journal, which I’ve housed in my brand new Websters Pages Color Crush Traveler’s Notebook that I love so much! Seriously, I wasn’t expecting to like this traveler’s notebook (only cause I don’t like their ringed binders of the same name) but man are these some really gorgeous traveler’s notebooks! I don’t regret my purchase whatsoever!

Anyway, I made some lovely inserts to go into this notebook. I made them a bit wider than the standard sized traveler’s notebook inserts, because I just like this A5-ish size better. I made my inserts using 90 lbs watercolor paper for the cover and 70 lbs drawing paper for the inside papers, which I put through my printer and printed a light gray grid on (cause I prefer grid paper). I only made three inserts, which I’m hoping will be enough for my 6-week trip.

I’m gonna try and document my trip a little differently this time. I was greatly inspired by Caylee Grey and her lovely travelogues and minibooks, that I wanted to try a more minimalist approach to this travel journal and use up all my pretty scrapbook things I’ve just been hoarding in my stash. Not going to lie, I think I made my kit way to big, but you should see how it all fits in my little travel organizer! I normally document my travels in a junk journal/smashbook sort of way, but for this one I wanted to come out looking like a legit minibook. As shallow as it may sound, I want it too look really pretty and clean.

As for my massive kit, here it is. It looks like a lot of stuff–and it is–but I managed to stuff most of it into a snack-sized Ziploc bag. I’ve already incorporated some of the papers into my journal, as you’ll see in the setup video I have down below, so there’s not much in my pouch. I’m still debating if I want to take certain things with me, but for now, I wanted to share everything that I’ve set aside to take for making this journal on the go. Even if I do ween some items out of my kit, I just wanted to give you an overview of everything I’m considering. I’d be super surprised if everything pictured ended up in my journal! I didn’t take a photo of my pouch organizer or the various tools I have in it, like my watercolor palette, compact scissors or mini stamp pads. But please check out my setup video for an overview of everything if you’re interested in how I set up my Color Crush Traveler’s Notebook and travel scrapbook kit.

Today’s Flip-Through Friday is my Summer Stories 2023 journal.

This is sort of a hodge-podge journal of all sorts of bits—memories, junk, photos, art journal spreads, and lots of journaling. I've kept it all summer and it's now filled and completed and ready to share.

Here's just a quick flip-through. I've got a full chatty flip up on my Youtube channel if that's more your speed.

Happy Friday loves! xx

I finally finished filling up my 2023 Summer Stories journal. I had originally intended to only keep this one from June to July, but I didn't journal as much as I thought I would in here this summer, so it has lasted me through to the first few days of September. I'm not mad about it. I prefer a filled journal to a half-filled one. I personally hate leaving too many pages blank at the end. I'm hoping to have a flip-through up on my Youtube channel tomorrow. Just have to film it! 😆

Just wanted to share a little look at my Water Your Soul journal that I've been keeping this year for @lizelayne's class. I'm finding that I tend to dip into the course whenever I have the time and it's never consistent. But I am so surprised at how much I've actually managed to fill in this journal!

It is mostly a mixture of the class printables and my answers to the questions, magazine clippings, quotes, and lots and LOTS of journaling, but it's been a lovely place to return to over and over again.

I was able to explore more of the lessons this past weekend when I had some time thanks to the holiday. But I think that the joy of this particular journal—and course really—is that I can return to any part of it at any time and pick up where I left off. I can work out of order and move stuff around—love the binder for this! I get it, Liz! I love how this journal is growing as I move and grow through all of the And Spaces we've been exploring—and even some other And Spaces that showed up for me too!

I can't wait to see how this journal ends up looking by the end of the year. xx

I had one of those days today where I was so exhausted from the week but at the same time wanted to go out and do something. Ever feel that way while also knowing that you just need to rest?

I really wanted to sit in Central Park and catch up on all of my journals but I just couldn’t motivate myself to actually walk to the park. So I took myself (and the dog) down to our building’s courtyard and set up shop on the tiled patio. While there was no grass, it was very quiet out there and I was able to catch up on some journaling and continue in my Water Your Soul binder from where I left off months ago.

Past me had printed all the lovely printables @lizelayne had for every lesson that I had yet to complete, so I spent some time getting all of them into my journal. This quote in particular stood out to me today. This is me. I've dealt with perfectionism all my life and for the last 10 years, I've slowly been coming into my own person separate from the need to "be perfect."

There is no such thing as perfection. The reality that we're all so beautifully imperfect is the real truth we should all strive for.

Anyway, I hope you've all had and are having a wonderful Sunday. xx

Setting up a new journal on my YouTube channel today. I'm calling it my Soulscape journal and it's where I've been having personal conversations with the Universe, setting intentions, manifesting my dreams, and note-taking from different webinars, classes, and books I've been consuming around astrology, psychology, manifestation, and general personal growth.

I initially was using a planner that I whiteout all the planner bits, but I filled that up and needed a new journal. I decided to use these B6 Muji notebooks I already had on hand and in my video, I just beautiful it and set it up in my Foxy Fix B6 perfect fit cover.

Nothing groundbreaking, but if you're interested, definitely check the video out. xx

Sharing some of my pages from my Virtual Voyage 8 journal. This journal is by no means finished. I'm actually taking a little break from it and will probably pick it back up during the Spooky Season in October, but I just wanted to share all the fun bits I did complete and get into my journal.

Thank you @jameslukeburkecreative for a really amazing voyage! I truly had so much fun with this one and I think it was partly due to it being totally and completely out of my norm so I gave myself permission to play and have fun with it. AND SO MUCH FUN WAS HAD! I love it! xx
