paris holds the key to my heart layout

Hey everyone! I’m back again with a layout using the December Hip Kit Club Kits! For this layout I really wanted to use multiple photos, as I have never tried incorporating more than one photo on a layout before. I always find it so difficult to place more than one of them, so in order to make it a bit easier, I compiled four of my photos into a photo strip. I used photos I took while in Paris last summer. I just booked a flight to Europe for the ending of this upcoming summer and the thought of returning to Paris got the song “Paris Holds the Key (To Your Heart” from the movie Anastasia in my head, so of course I had to scrap about it!

I used this beautiful blue star paper “Sparkle” designed exclusively for the kits by Kim Watson as my background and played around with a few branding strips to accent the bottom. The multi-color one is the #4 paper from the Pink Paislee Take Me Away collection and the striped one was from the Hip Kit Club exclusive paper named “City Sidewalks” from the November kits. I really wanted to include that stripe branding strip because black and white stripes always seem so Parisian to me. I layered that one crookedly on top of the other just to give the bottom a little bit of interest.

The difficult part for me was placing the photo strip. I ended up tearing a bit of that #4 paper from Pink Paislee and layering it behind the photo strip along with a ripped piece of vellum, just to add dimension and texture. I then took a few of the frames from the Take Me Away ephemera pack that’s in the Main kit and had them crookedly poking out from behind the photo strip. I tucked a black and white tab from my stash behind the photo strip as well, adding a piece from the Hip Kit Club cut apart sheet from the Project Life kit that reads “I love you!” on top of it. I stuck one of the Take Me Away paper clips also from the Project Life kit on the bottom of the photo strip and ending up placing that entire cluster off center, so that I could fit my really long title beside it.

For my title, I used the Crate Paper Heart Day Charming thickers from the Main kit to spell out “Paris Holds the Key to My.” Then I used the Take Me Away thickers from the Embellishment kit to spell out “Heart.” I love that pop of color and how it puts emphasis on the word Heart. For the final touch, I added a few of the Hip Kit Club acrylic stars in gold from the PL kit in the top left area above the frames, and two of the My Mind’s Eye Yes Please gold acrylic heart stickers from the Embellishment kit next to the word “Heart” on the bottom right. Even though this is super simple layout, it was a good way for me to incorporate all those photos on my page!

Products used: Hip Kit Club December 2016 Main Kit, December 2016 Project Life Kit, December 2016 Embellishment Kit Add-on + November 2016 Main Kit
