a few of my favorites #1

a few of my favorites #1

(image: free people)

Hi. I have updated as usual because honestly, I haven’t been doing much. I was sick for about a week and of course that sucks the life out of you. The most I did that was somewhat creatively productive was add items to my shop and work on a story I’ve been writing for the last two months called forgetting charlie. But I have been reading my daily dose of blogs and while I feel posting this past week was slow, I just want to share a few of my favorites.

Bring Back Handwritten Notes, Bldg 25 – Free People Blog – Love Free People! FP Brigette curated this lovely post of handwritten notes. It’s quite cute and also makes me wish more people left little notes like this. I know my mother leaves me little post-it notes on the mirror in my bathroom some mornings when she wants to let me know something about the day, but I’m sleeping. It always brings a smile to my face when I wake up and see the little note tacked on my mirror.

Summer of Love 2013 Journal, Awkward & Beautiful – Just a bit of eye-candy really. I love Natty’s art journaling style. Always an inspiration.

Paper Envelopes + Letters DIY, Definitely Screaming – This is such a cute little DIY project you can do. I love Jianine’s blog. It’s always so pretty and her posts are generally always so thoughtful. Definitely check it out.

My Whole Brain Is Screaming, Monster Serenade – More eye-candy. Hannah Clare definitely has a unique style and I find it so refreshing. She talks about her emotions as she’s getting ready to head off to college, which I think a lot of people can relate to. She art journals about it.

Enjoy these posts from some of my favorite blogs. :)

Still working in my @getmessyartjournal Season of Still working in my @getmessyartjournal Season of Bloom art journal. I had so much fun with this color scheme and style that I went ahead and made two matching #littleartnotes! This color combo is super rare for me (Titan Buff and Titan Mars Pale with Payne's Gray marks), but I'm really digging it!

When I originally set up these pages in my @getmes When I originally set up these pages in my @getmessyartjournal Season of Bloom art journal, I left a lot of space to write about what blooming means to me. It means growth, blossoming, and becoming. It means to flourish. It also represents nature and the restorative power of being in the wild.

Bloom means a lot to me and yet while finishing up some of these half-finished pages, I was at a loss for words. This is when I found that word phrase stickers really help get the message across. xx
Just another spread in my @getmessyartjournal Seas Just another spread in my @getmessyartjournal Season of Bloom art journal. A lot of these pages were already in progress, so it's interesting to see them finished. I'm sure I had other intentions for what they were going to look like a couple of years ago when I first created this journal. Now, I'm content with matching colors, adding paint, and a few scribbles. This journal is all about the process of creating for me now, which I think is still a source of growth. xx
Another spread in my @getmessyartjournal Season of Another spread in my @getmessyartjournal Season of Bloom art journal. I rather like how this one turned out! I'm quite obsessed with using this Payne's Gray NeoColor crayon to make some scattered marks on my page. You might see a lot more of this in future spreads from this book. xx
