scrap with me #7 | this happy happy day

November 22, 2019
scrap with me 7

I’m back again with another layout process. I very much love this layout. It feels good to have created something that just came together so effortlessly. Not going to lie though, I did begin this layout with a completely different idea in mind, then started over because this stunning Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection worked out so much better!

I initially was going to use the Brie die cut pack from Felicity Jane, but when I started, the colors were just a bit too bold for my liking. This collection though–it’s called Midnight–is very soft with subtle pastel colors that I love. My photo was very orange, a color I’m not particularly fond of, so I really wanted to use bits that would compliment that. This Cocoa Vanilla collection had subtle hints of pastel orange throughout, along with pinks and a grayish blue that just worked so well with my photo.

This photo is of my friend Keshia and I at Disneyland. We took some photos in front of the Carsland billboard in Disney California Adventure, and out of all of the photos the Disney photographer took, this gem is my absolute favorite! Disney Magic at its best! I already scrapped these in my Disneyland minibook, but it really needed a layout of its own in my 12×12 album. It’s that special.

I used this white with text paper from Felicity Jane as my background. I did not want to attempt a mixed media layout for this one, so I chose this paper because it was white but still had a little something on it, so that my background wouldn’t be so plain. That being said, this paper really leant to me creating a fairly minimalistic layout–and I’m not complaining! Sometimes less is more.

I really wanted to over-embellish this one though, I’m not going to lie about that! There were just so many goodies in this collection that I wanted to throw onto my page, but of course, nothing worked. I spent quite a bit trying to make certain things work–enamel dots especially–but I think I knew in the back of my mind that nothing more was needed.

I really hope you enjoy this process! I’m very happy with it.
